I'd take him over any CB, any OL not named Joe Alt, Penix or Nix. That being said, if we took Fuaga over Bowers, I wouldn't be terribly upset.Rabid Raider wrote Mon Apr 22, 2024 7:24 am:If Bowers is sitting there at #13, would you grab him? Many pundits say if you look at the great teams in the last few Superbowls, all have a great over the middle tight ends. I know its not a need position, but could be BPA.

Alt will not fall past the 7th pick, and Bowers will not fall past 10.BoKnows81 wrote Mon Apr 22, 2024 7:37 am:I'd take him over any CB, any OL not named Joe Alt, Penix or Nix. That being said, if we took Fuaga over Bowers, I wouldn't be terribly upset.

A lot of chatter here in Nashville that the new staff loves Alt, and with good reason. In this case, with their need at the position I do not think it is smoke and mirrors.BoKnows81 wrote Mon Apr 22, 2024 7:52 am:I agree but I was just answering his question.

Let's assume that a CB like Mitchell is a "lock-down" corner and a big upgrade over what we have at CB, and one of the top 2-3 tackles is a Pro Bowl (or close) RT for years -- I would not take Bowers over that. Mayer is good enough for us at TE, as he shows nice potential after one year. Need sometimes does trump BPA. In basketball, I think BPA almost always trumps need. Take the Kings and Hawks taking Bagley Jr and Trae Young over Doncic. Kings -- we already have D'Aaron Fox -- there are not two basketballs on the court at once. Big mistake.BoKnows81 » Mon Apr 22, 2024 8:24 am

Respectfully, there are a lot of assumptions there. Bc I do not believe any of these corners are true lock down corners. If there were a Surtain or Sauce this year, I'd be all in.RunOverByHubbard wrote Mon Apr 22, 2024 8:17 am:Let's assume that a CB like Mitchell is a "lock-down" corner and a big upgrade over what we have at CB, and one of the top 2-3 tackles is a Pro Bowl (or close) RT for years -- I would not take Bowers over that. Guess we find out Thursday. It's all speculation. Tolesco had gotten better at drafting for the chargers the last few years. He's running simulators just like most do. He's aware of the team needs as well as the desired qb. I don't think he will make a play for Daniel's unless he drops to the patriots, then it's a matter of price. Moving to 4th would be easier than 2nd. If Daniel's is gone I believe they go after penix. Whether they trade down or move up from the second. If we stay at 13 I gave to believe it's offensive line or corner and then work a deal to get penix. Penix, to me, looks like the best passer and had learned to stay in the pocket and slide to protect himself. He had a very quick release and a rocket arm. He also had good pocket awareness that you can't teach. He's got good accuracy and can throw in tight windows. When he misses its usually high because of his arm strength. He can hit in stride on every route anywhere on the field and has an excellent deep ball. They ding him for his injuries and mechanics but those you can work on and once he stopped running he stayed healthy. My opinion is penix is our best option if we can't afford Daniel's. Would I prefer Daniel's? Yes. Daniel's had a lot of tools that translates to the nfl and can buy time with his legs to find receivers. He can make reads and is accurate. He did benefit from having great receivers but he made the throws. I don't care about hiesman trophies because not all have made it in the nfl. Daniel's has good instincts and I love that he utilizes the shovel pass in his game. I just don't think we can afford to get him without compromising the offensive line or secondary. Maybe tolesco had a plan if certain situations develope but we won't know until Thursday. I wouldn't be mad at penix late in the first or early second and we get oline early and cb in the 3rd.The Condor » Mon Apr 22, 2024 9:44 am

To answer your question, yeah, Mitchell can really play. Tulane is a football or CB powerhouse, so not as many people were paying attention and even the ones that were didn't see him matched against top level comp much. He showed out at the Senior Bowl. The Condor wrote Mon Apr 22, 2024 9:44 am:Am I the only one leery of Mitchell?
I am very sceptical about prospects who rise sharply before the draft, seemingly because of a combine 40 or similar. McKinstry was viewed as the CB1 heading into the year IRC, so offenses avoided him, to Arnolds' - who I also really like - benefit, it seems.
Despite an "average" 4.47? 40 time, the more I review, the more impressive he seems. He just "gets it" - instincts, football IQ, swagger, it's all there in spades. He made some plays that are unbelievable for a college CB.
Is this prospect fatigue?
I think NFL coaches are often way too egotistical, believing their own Yoda-like teaching abilities will overcome technical/instinct deficiencies (Cable/Leatherface for example!) . So overlooking the most important question of all; "can this dude really play?"

Michell is from Toledo, not Tulane. New story on him (with evidence that Al Davis would have taken him for sure):Dark Horse » Mon Apr 22, 2024 10:35 am
Outside of QB, Mitchell is my pick followed by Fuaga
