During the illegal hip tackle the runner puts his head down....offsetting?AdamJoshua28 wrote Wed Mar 20, 2024 5:45 pm:Not for much longer.
This is as ridiculous as penalizing runners that put their heads down as they prepare to be hit as happened with Broncos running back Javonte Williams who got hit with a $14,433 fine from the NFL for unnecessary roughness in Week 7 against Green Bay. The league ruled that Williams lowered his head into contact with Packers defensive back Keisean Nixon after catching a pass out of the backfield in the second quarter.
Just put the flags on them now and get it over with.
Thank god for the NHL

If this goes through then teams may want to load up on guys who are a load to bring down, as opposed to shifty guys. The hip drop is more often used when an undersized defender tries to tackle a big TE or RB and there's a huge size disadvantage for the tackler.SkullCrusher » Wed Mar 20, 2024 6:48 pm
That's what I was thinking. So to not do this you need to be bigger vs the ball carrier. You get bigger that alone makes you more dangerous.chucker wrote Wed Mar 20, 2024 6:32 pm:If this goes through then teams may want to load up on guys who are a load to bring down, as opposed to shifty guys. So now instead of, you know, TACKLING a guy you are supposed to put your arms around him and run along with him until you slow down his momentum and find another way to bring him to the ground or maybe he breaks your grasp and now he is long gone for big yardage/TD.

Its just another way for refs to decide the outcome of a game.Xramfan » Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:18 pm
Yes.....you need to tackle without tackling......16 to 88 wrote Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:06 pm:So now instead of, you know, TACKLING a guy you are supposed to put your arms around him and run along with him until you slow down his momentum and find another way to bring him to the ground or maybe he breaks your grasp and now he is long gone for big yardage/TD.
Final seconds of the game in Super Bowl XVIXVII they are behind by 3. Chiefs need just 35 yards for a score... Mahomes drops back, throws to Kelce at the 20, time runs out will he make it into the end zone he has a tackler on him trying to hold him out and holding on holding on holding on... he drags him into the end zone chiefs win another Super Bowl! yeah.

At some point you have to let the boys play football.
There is nothing you can do in this world that is worth millions that doesnt involve big risk.
Mental , physical, financial, judicial... if you want big money, you take big risks.
They game is barely worth watching as is, they are going to keep adding things to slow the game down until its not any fun at all to watch.
People will spend their money and time elsewhere.

I keep saying the same thing. The only thing that keeps me watching the NFL is our team. I said this so many times it's ridiculous but I absolutely hate the NFL. I do everything to avoid giving them money and if it's an official sponsor I do all I can to avoid buying there products. Wish I could start a new league and take the Raiders and put them in it...Xramfan wrote Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:20 pm:I truly believe I am just one more season from being done.

The FSU QB is the only one that looks worthy of implementing a rule for. Quite frankly that tackle looked like it was done with Ill-intent. And if there’s gonna be a “hip drop” rule I think that needs to be the standard to call it - does it look downright dirty?srv5490 » Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:58 pm
To the best of my understanding, this is not that big of a deal. An illegal hip drop tackle has a very specific meaning; it isn't just simply using your body weight to bring down the ball carrier. To get a flag, the tackler has to rotate themselves around the back of the ball carrier and then use their body weight to fall onto the back of the runner's legs. If they use their body weight and fall to the ground without falling on the runner's legs, it is not a penalty.Jeevo » Wed Mar 20, 2024 10:48 pm
Yet it’s never been more popular or made more money.16 to 88 wrote Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:26 pm:I keep saying the same thing. The only thing that keeps me watching the NFL is our team.
