This sounds ridiculous. Or am I missing something? Is this not a solid tackling technique? Wrap a ball carrier & take him down. Whether by bringing your weight down or wrapping & driving thru the player, what’s the health risk issue?Arsenal Raider » Wed Mar 20, 2024 4:12 pm
There's a specific drop tackle that defensive players have been using in the past few years which causes nasty leg injuries (breaks, ligament tears, etc...)MexicanHulk wrote Wed Mar 20, 2024 4:06 pm:This sounds ridiculous. I agree wholeheartedly in this move to ban the hip drop from football. Too many leg injuries the past couple years. Remember Drake a couple years ago and Jordan Travis FSU QB last year? Protect the player.16 to 88 » Wed Mar 20, 2024 4:39 pm
Sounds stupid to me.MexicanHulk » Wed Mar 20, 2024 4:40 pm
Oh ok. That makes more sense. Just by that short read, I can’t picture what they really mean. Almost sounds like they could throw a flag on a tackle if they wanted.Arsenal Raider wrote Wed Mar 20, 2024 4:12 pm:There's a specific drop tackle that defensive players have been using in the past few years which causes nasty leg injuries (breaks, ligament tears, etc...)
I believe this is what they're specifically looking to get rid of. I'll have to find a good video example, but it basically involves the defender grabbing the ball career up high and doing a cannonball on the back of their rapidly folding legs.

Being Raider fans... My and (I'm sure our) main concern isn't that a new penalty rule exists, but that it gives the refs a new opportunity to rat fuck us when they feel like doing so.MexicanHulk wrote Wed Mar 20, 2024 4:40 pm:Oh ok. Watching a video would certainly put it into perspective

I think you’re trying to draw a response and I’ll give you one: we are way past that point. Think about how long they’ve now banned hitting in the head. The techniques used by Jack Tatum and George Atkinson are long long gone.pfish57 wrote Wed Mar 20, 2024 4:30 pm:Shit happens...I mean it is a contact sport;)

Well with this scoring should go through the roof and RBs will have 2k seasons so the NFL is happy.
